BOC is fully aware of, and committed to, its duty of care and environmental obligations. As such, the Balloon Occasions cylinder is made of fully recycleable steel. The cylinders present no problems to the environment if disposed of correctly. In order to dispose of your cylinder, please follow the simple instructions below.

How do I dispose of my empty Balloon Occasions cylinder?

*Empty Balloon Occasions cylinders should not be thrown away with your household rubbish*

Instead they need to be emptied and taken to your local Civic Amenity Site who will dispose of the cylinder for you.  In order to ensure the cylinder is empty please take the following steps -

• Whilst outdoors, ensure the green cylinder valve is turned fully anti-clockwise (open) and then press the tilt valve to release any residual pressure in the cylinder.  Never do this in an enclosed space.
• Once you have emptied the gas, leave the valve in the open position.
• Take both the carton and the cylinder to your local Civic Amentiy Site / municipal tip for disposal.

Why are my local disposal site saying they can't take the cylinder?

There is a lot of mis-information given about the disposal of low pressure cylinders.  The chances are that your local site are able to dispose of it for you, but are not aware of the procedure for doing so.  If they are adamant that they cannot take the cylinder, please contact the BOC Customer Service Centre on 0800 111 333.  In most cases we will arrange for our safety department to send disposal procedures and they should then be happy to take the cylinder.
